Description

Popular in Nissan, Toyota and Mazda manual transmissions and transaxles as well as other selected applications, this is a 75W90 GL-4 Gear Oil that's slightly heavier than Redline MTL. MT-90 fluid provides excellent protection of gears and synchronizers and its balanced slipperiness provides a perfect coefficient of friction, allowing easier shifting.

Red Line MT-90 (manual transmission) fluid is designed to provide excellent protection and improved shiftability for manual transmissions and transaxles, having cured the problem of hard shifting in thousands of transmissions with shifting troubles. They have the appropriate coefficient of friction for most manual transmission synchronizers (many gear oils, engine oils, and ATFs are too slippery for proper synchro engagement). The viscosity of MT-90 allows proper shifting over the entire temperature range which the transmission will experience. The synthetic base oils used have a very high viscosity index which provides relatively constant viscosity as temperature changes. MT-90 is a thicker 75W90 version of Redline MTL. The shear stability and oxidation stability of these products are excellent, thus the physical characteristics of Red Line MT-90 manual transmission fluid will change little with use.

Protege requires +/- 3.5 quarts.

3 of 5 I recommend getting the Redline 75W-90NS instead. September 4, 2009
Reviewer: William from Columbus, OH United States
I have a Mazdaspeed 6 and the gear fork for second gear broke off sometime before 12000 miles and had to have the transmission partially rebuilt.  After the rebuild there was a gremlin that would sometimes cause a vibration when shifting into first from a standstill.  I had the fluid drained that was put in after the rebuild and refilled with the RedLine MT-90.  The shifts were harder and I felt like the gremlin was worse.  I drained the MT-90 and put in the RedLine 75W-90NS and now the shifting is smooth and quick and so far the gremlin has not come back.  I would recommend the 75W-90NS instead for any transmission that has synchronizers and is designed for performance.
