Installing this was a breeze on my 2008 Mazdaspeed 3. The throttle response is a little more immediate, and the sound of it taking in the air will make you smile every time you hear it. With this, the new turboxs 3" downpipe, turboxs racepipe, and 3" catback exhaust, along with hypertech tuner, new turbo manifold and cobb tuning's bypass valve really makes a difference! I highly recommend getting the cobb tuning fmic as well!

It was a complete ball ache to get in, mine is a ms3 2010 and the directions are for 2007.

after a little huffing and puffing and another size hose clamp, I got it in.

DAMN. it is soo worth it, u hear the turbo and the bov now and its not loud enough to get a tug from mister blue but enough to keep u grinning from ear to ear.

LOVE K&N, product is solid and well made.

4 of 5 K&N is my first choice October 25, 2009

The Ms3 typhoon is the top of the line with there 69 series and you defiantly see why when you look at this beautifully finished piece. The price is up there compared to other intakes on the market, no color options for either the pipe or the cupler. You wont see to many of them on this car, that can either be a bad thing or good thing depending on if youre the type that always pulls the cheaper stick or you want to be more original than the next guy. But on to the performance this intake is proven to add horsepower and you can really feel it here wow Oh and that awesome turbo sucking sound I could not stop smiling the first time I laid into the gas in 2nd and 3rd gear. The install was easy as any short ram out there as well as very sturdy mounting and the classic heat shield really cleans up that open spot after removing the stock air box.

5 of 5 Great MOD!!! September 25, 2009

I have no comparison to other intakes for the MS3, but this intake is a heck of a buy.  Easy install (don't need directions if you have any mechanical know-how).

Immediate notice to HP especially at Mid to High RPMs.  Pulls all the way to redline.

Can hear the turbo spool now (with either the windows down or with radio low that is).

No CEL.

Looks good when you pop the hood and see the fat intake tube and filter.  The filter sits high enough where you don't have to worry about driving into puddles.

4 of 5 great choice September 4, 2009

Unlike the other air systems, this one is relatively simple and you can clean or replace the filter without having to take the front of the car off.  The car is basically unchanged until over 3k, but after that I had a small increase in power, and it held much better after the anoying drop off around 5.5k rpm.  The install is fairly easy, however the instructions were poor and the steps could've been a little different to make the install easier(hint put the mounting bracket on the heat shield before you put it in).  I am certainly satisfied with it.

A HUGE improvement in the higher RPM range.  Hang on tight when you floor it because it pulls incredibly hard now.  Agree with the first reviewer that the turbo spooling sound is only noticible with the stereo off or very low.  Took off one star because install instructions vague on how to remove the intake hose clips (took me nearly 30 minutes to figure that out).  Don't know how the performance compares with the other intakes, but I'm very pleased.  Would definitely recommend.

5 of 5 Great intake May 13, 2009
Reviewer: Krishna Ramasubramanian from Phoenix, AZ United States
Was more silent than expected - the turbo spooling sound and blow-off sound is noticeable only with the stereo switched off. Very livable sound for daily driving,  sound is pronounced only when accelerating hard. No difference in highway driving sound levels.

People looking for large increase in intake sounds should look elsewhere. I personally prefer the subtle increase.

Heat shield and intake tube have secure mounts and look good. A little pricey but compared to a Cobb SRI with a K&N filter it is about 50 bucks more only.

No CEL light. Top end power definitely improved, car positively pulls till 6k rpm, power delivery is smoother across all ranges now. 2nd gear acceleration is amazing!
