With the release of the 2001 Miata, Mazda introduced a larger and “deeper” seat than equipped on 1990-2000 models. This new seat style demanded that modifications be made to our style bar design to allow these seats to fully recline. Our design team went to work and unveiled a style bar design that allowed ALL 1990 through 2003 Miatas to regain additional seat back travel! The upper seat back position can be now reclined to within 1-inch of the rear bulkhead. This exclusive “Full Recline” Racing Beat design provides the Miata driver an opportunity to find their optimum driving position, without sacrificing precious interior space. The Racing Beat style bar is the one that started it all! This style bar utilizes thick-walled 2 1/4-inch mandrel-bent tubing in a classic twin hoop design that projects a muscular and aggressive image. Our Type II bar has been the source for many knock-off imitations, but the Racing Beat bar can be immediately distinguished by the elegant flowing-hoop design. The Type II Style Bars are available in your choice of either highly polished chrome plating, powder-coated satin black, or a metallic silver finish.. This bar adds the additional benefit of increasing chassis stiffness across the mid-section of the car. All of our Style Bars are designed to function without interfering with the operation of the stock factory soft and/or hard tops, and aftermarket replacement tops equipped with glass windows.

For years we have strived to perfect the production techniques used in the manufacturing processes of these style bars. Over 50 manufacturing steps are utilized in the production of every bar we produce. From the mandrel-bending, welding, pre-polishing, chroming, final polishing and inspection, these bars are unsurpassed in quality and attention to detail. All manufacturing steps are undertaken in-house (except for the chroming process) so we can monitor the production of every bar. Additionally, we supply a template to allow for re-positioning of the optional factory Wind Blocker on the 1999-03 Miata. (Note: Access to the cargo-net feature on the Wind Blocker is restricted due to the limited clearance [approx. 1-inch] between the Wind Blocker and the Style Bar.) This bar is also combatible with factory tops that are equipped with aftermarket top that have been fitted with glass windows. As reported by one of our customers, "I'm happy to report that the Type II bar does fit with the Duetto Glassfold top by a comfortable margin."

Each Style Bar is supplied with detailed, illustrated instructions and can be installed in approximately 2-3 hours using basic tools. Each bar mounts to the chassis through the use of six mounting bolts for a secure and rigid fitment.
