Custom Performance Engineering™, Inc., (CPE™) is proud to announce the release of its XCel Intake for the MazdaSPEED3!

The factory intake is great at one thing, suppressing horsepower and all the cool sounds that a turbo car makes! There is only one inlet on the MazdaSPEED3 factory airbox. There is a substantial amount of horsepower to be made by replacing the intake.
Turbo cars are very sensitive to temperature increases, therefore in testing CPE tried both a short ram intake and a cold air intake (CAI). After measuring temperatures throughout the intake track CPE determined that a CAI was in order.

The XCel™ MazdaSPEED3 intake is the first intake that will not set a check engine light (CEL). CPE spent a great deal of time engineering and figuring out a way to mass produce an intake that wouldn’t set a CEL. The CPE system includes a machined mass air flow housing and an air flow straightener for maximum gains and to avoid problematic CELs.

must have for the Speed3 November 6, 2008

Chris at StreetUnit helped me out on this one.  Was originally going with the Mazdaspeed version but was convinced to go with CPE after the testimonials and some research and I'm glad I did.  Unbelievable difference from the clunky stock box.  Install takes a while without ramps and the lack of a third arm, but definitely do-able.  Sounds amazing, noticed moderate increases right away and cleans up the engine bay quite a bit.  Great choice and I'll be going to the downpipe and catback exhaust soon.

Freakin Amazing October 8, 2008

This has got to be the best sounding intake i have ever heard.  It sounds like a jet taking off and even the stock bpv valves sounds awesome with this intake on.  I dont even turn on my radio anymore and i slow down on purpose just so i can accelerate again and hear the awesomeness of the spooling and sucking sound.  Buy it now and stop thinking about it you will be glad you did.

You won't regret it July 13, 2008

Fantastic intake.  I've had AEM and Injen intakes on various vehicles, so CPe was a bit of an unknown quantity for me.  Granted, it's only been two days, but I can tell you it's great!  You have to hear it to truly appreciate it, and you just know your turbo is breathing better with all that volume.  Don't hesitate.  I've posted links to pics of my install and a video showcasing the sound on the mazda3forums.com site, username Canada.

Great intake! June 13, 2008
Reviewer: Colin from Sackville, NB Canada
Install was very easy, come with good instructions. Took about 150 KM's to let the ECU adjust, but once it did the car felt great! Sounds is amazing, and there is definitely a slight increase in power. Power band feels more even and smooth, and the response is better. High quality product, definitely worth every penny.

Nice! April 5, 2008
Reviewer: RoNi SiZe from Kew, Victoria Australia
I really like it. Definitely a lot more pull after 3500rpms or so.

Installation was straightforward, & relatively quick. All the splash guards & stuff pissed me off though, freakin' Mazdas!

I personally like how it smooths out the power curve (a lot less kick when the boost starts), however, 4 stars given because the reduced kick has some of my friends claiming that it feels 'less torque-y'.

So it's up to you guys what u want I suppose. Sacrifice bottom end for a tougher top end.

Cheers!
