Custom Performance Engineering™, Inc., (CPE™) is proud to announce the release of its XCel Intake for the MazdaSPEED3!

The factory intake is great at one thing, suppressing horsepower and all the cool sounds that a turbo car makes! There is only one inlet on the MazdaSPEED3 factory airbox. There is a substantial amount of horsepower to be made by replacing the intake.
Turbo cars are very sensitive to temperature increases, therefore in testing CPE tried both a short ram intake and a cold air intake (CAI). After measuring temperatures throughout the intake track CPE determined that a CAI was in order.

The XCel™ MazdaSPEED3 intake is the first intake that will not set a check engine light (CEL). CPE spent a great deal of time engineering and figuring out a way to mass produce an intake that wouldn’t set a CEL. The CPE system includes a machined mass air flow housing and an air flow straightener for maximum gains and to avoid problematic CELs.

After installing and figuring out that you really should follow the instructions, it was amazing.  The pull is amazing and the scream it lets out is just well....  Highly recommended for all MS3 owners!!  CPE great job!!

This is really an incredible upgrade.  The cars pulls strong all the way to red line.  Added power is felt throughout the power band.  Now the turbo can actually be heard also.    I highly recommend this intake to any one.  The welds are pristine and installation was easy and straightforward.  However, removing the old intake wasn't so easy, but it was well worth it.  I may not be the best auto mechanic, but it took me around 2 hours to install the Xcel Intake.  Don't hesitate to buy this intake.

CAI is so cheap when you feel the type of gains that can come by attaching this simple piece of piping.  Quick install too - either for the do-it-yourself crowd, or at your local shop.  Furthermore, CP-E lived up to their superb record of customer service.  All the reps there are willing to chat and answer all your questions.  If you want one of the hands-down, best CAIs on the market, then the Xcel is for you.

factory flaw? May 2, 2009

The intake which ive had installed for about a year now is amazing, intalled in about 2 hours, had to fight with the stock intake fro a while, however after proper installation the shift weight along with motor movment started banging on the intake pipe and left a nasty dent. I just got back from an all mazda meet, which CPE was there and showed one of there guys, I also foun 3 other mazdaspeed 3's with the same intake with the same problem, The cpe guy said he had never seen it before so they are going to take a look into it, It didnt cause  a hole or anything but it did dent the pipe, so just somthing to take into consideration. The intake is still a great product, but a couple zip ties make it perfect lol.

I should have installed this a loooooooong time ago. Awesome upgrade. Incredible gains throughout the powerband.
Was a little difficult to install without jacking the car up, but nowhere near impossible. Dont think twice about this CAI. Just buy it, you'll be glad you did.
