Not just a universal design, the ARC Oil Catch Tank is designed specifically to fit inside the Mazda Miata engine bay providing a much cleaner look to a usually bulky item. An oil catch tank is used on engines that create excessive amounts of "blow-by" caused by unusually high crank case pressure usually seen on engines with forced induction or engines that spend a lot of time in extremely high RPMs. The oil blow by is caused when oil is forced through the PCV system and drawn back into the intake chamber which can cause burning oil symptoms or dampen performance. The catch tank is used as a container to "catch" the oil before it's dumped back into the intake chamber and can be emptied later.

If you can remove the intake piping and find oil in the throttle body or piping it might be a good time to invest in an oil catch tank.
